About Lovely Taiwan Foundation

In the spring of 2009, Lovely Taiwan, founded by Ko Wen Chang, took on a mission to “reveal goodness of Taiwan from small towns,” which emphasized the “modes of towns” and built a “platform mode” driven by towns. What’s more, the foundation held a humble and patient attitude to understand and integrate into the local, aiming to respect the local features and residents’ willingness and work with residents to revitalize the region by turning weakness into strength.

Tiehua Music Village, a music settlement

A settlement focuses on promoting Indigenous music. With the hope that Indigenous musicians could stay in their hometowns and engage in their favorite activities using their expertise. It insists on using aboriginal music as their topic and has held more than 2,700 shows, 70% of which are performed by aboriginal singers. To look for beautiful local voices, we conduct projects such as “Rural Tribal Show” and “A Little Tribe” in the tribal village of East Taiwan. "Tiehua Village" serves as both a stage for Indigenous music creation and an important cultural landmark in Taitung.

The Revitalization of Chishang

Having been dedicated to Chishang, Taitung for 15 years, Lovely Taiwan Foundation had held several events, such as “Chishang’s Autumn Harvest Festival,” which creates a unique and natural theater, integrating the heaven, the earth, and human beings. As for Art Chishang, it is a place where we invite artists to stay to provide resources for art education. “Chishang Art Center,” a cultural landmark for Chishang, is the first place which builds the residents’ cohesion. Through the infusion of culture and art, we work with residents to turn Chishang into a beautiful place in Taiwan and a model for the other places when referring to regional revitalization.

Dedicated to Chaonan

Lovely Taiwan Foundation has conducted cultural and historical research in Chaozhou, Pingtung for 7 years. We establish “Chao School” to introduce innovative educational resources. We create “Chao Trip,” “Chao Resident Journal,” “Chao, Green,” a landscape renovation plan and etc, to work with the locals to flip a century-old town.

Operation Shennong

Based on three core values: Organic Diet, Land Education, and Hometown Identity. Lovely Taiwan Foundation has promoted “Operation Shennong” to work with local farmers who are engaged in organic farming. It starts from providing organic food and helps children to have healthy eating habits. This project provides rural elementary school students agricultural education while emphasizing environmental awareness and hometown identity. By participating in the construction and management of "school fields", students get to know the cultural and hydrological aspects of their homeland. Shennong elementary school, viewing food and agriculture education as a starting point, is the engine that triggers the community to change.

Blue Sky Classroom

After the 921 earthquake, the Cloud Gate’s Dance school entered the disaster areas, using body movement to accompany the kids from the disaster area to pass through the doorway of grief with eurhythmics. Later, Lovely Taiwan Foundation together with the Cloud Gate’s Dance school brought the Blue Sky Classroom to more than 15 urban elementary schools. Helping children unleash their senses, cultivating their creativity and get in tune with their bodies.

Juvenile Art Plan

With support from the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education, the project aims to integrate art into corrective education, providing a positive environment for self-identity and personal growth. Through participation in activities such as martial arts and drama, we hope teenagers can build self-confidence, communication skills, and trying to express their emotions. Thus, they are able to calm down and put them on the right track.
